Feira de Santa Iria

In Faro, the Largo de São Francisco Square is the place where the Fair of Santa Iria is held annually in the month of October. Under a large covered area, you can find almost anything, from simple cooking utensils to stands serving traditional Portuguese dishes.


The Faro Book Fair

One of the most important cultural events in the South, the Faro Book Fair attracts thousands of visitors. Organised in the best open-air spot in the city – the Manuel Bivar Gardens at the Doca de Faro – the possibilities for a great, affordable purchases are endless. In addition to the books on sale, there are daily performances of music and theatre, as well as story-telling contests and the participation of the authors themselves.

Fair of Sweets, Dried Fruits and Regional Beverages

For the last 19 years, the local borough government of the Freguesia da Sé in Faro has promoted small manufacturers producing hand-made goodies at the Fair of Sweets, Dried Fruits and Regional Beverages.

Since its inception, the fair has sought to give greater exposure among the local population and visitors to those artisans who are proud of their talents in baking, making sweets and producing dried fruits and regional beverages.

This event enlivens the warm summer nights of August with all sorts of traditional treats.
